Dev Anand, the evergreen hero of the Hindi film
industry was at his charming best that evening when
Meera Gandhi hosted an exclusive party in his
honour at her townhouse in New York. The evening
also doubled up as a 'celebration of the success of
his latest film Love at Times Square. Amongst those
who walked in to be part of the do were representa~
tives of royalty, prominent Indians in New York
together with friends and many well wishers.
The film, released in New Jersey, has received good
reviews, most notably by the February 14 issue of
The New York Times, whkh called it "a delightful
getaway."
As toasts were raised, the charming Dev saab said
that "Love at Times Square is a low-budget but
irrepressibly upbeat romantic comedy." Present at the
do were Dev Anand's friend of long-standing Duke
Alba-Teranj D'Antin, film maker Vinanti Sarkar, Joya
Dass of CNN and many others.... The surprise
element of the evening came when a heart-shaped
cake was presented to the veteran filmmaker. Amidst
much cheers, he cut the cake and once again raised
a toast to the "success of the film."
