Socialite MEERA GANDHI is on a flying visit to
Mumbai. A fixture on the Mumbai social circuit, Meera
left for New York last June where her husband
VIKRAM took up his new assignment as managing
director with Morgan Stanley. But she misses the city
very much and her friends too. That's when her dear
friend HEMA DEORA hosted a quick dinner at Indigo
on Tuesday. It was a perfect women's night out.

CONTRACTOR and CAMELIA PUNJABI all together
under one roof. At Indigo again yesterday afternoon,
Meera had a gathering of close friends like ILA
GOOD, PRAVEENA MECKLAI, PARVEEZ
AGGARWAL and ANJU TARAPOREWALA. In New
York, too, she's doing plenty in terms of spreading
Indian culture. Apart from a few charitable events,
she is also working with Sarvodaya Trust to launch a
book on the life of Mahatma Gandhi.
"We have a huge NRI community in New York who
are eager to be part of anything that associates them
with Indian culture," she says, adding, "I am in a
unique position and I would like to capitalise on that
and do something for my country." Distance does
