DIWALI

"Being so far from home, I have always thought that
in addition to celebrating Diwali in New York, we
must continue to share this festival with our American
friends. As Indians in New York, the onus is on us to
teach the meaning of Diwali to our future
generations. After my children perform the Diwali
puja in school, we take them out for dinner and light
candles on the porch of our home all night. We do the
puja, eat mithai and the beauti~ ful meaning of Diwali
comes sparkling through."
